Prior
to taking Senior Judge Status, Judge
Don Koons handled
family law matters in the 255th District Court, Dallas County. He was consistently the top-rated family law judge in the Dallas Bar Association
judicial evaluation poll. Judge Koons introduced the first full-time court master for
family courts in Texas, pioneering the position in 1978. He has been a
judge since 1977. Now retired, he sits as a Senior Judge around the state. Koons received his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and his law degree from Southern Methodist University.
