introduced the first full-time court master for family courts in Texas, pioneering
the position in 1978. He has been a judge since 1977.Koons received his undergraduate
degree from the University of Iowa and his law degree from Southern Methodist
University. In addition to his judicial responsibilities, he has served as an
adjunct instructor of family law at El Centro College in Dallas.
